The Chairman of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, has been presented with the prestigious award of “A Visionary Leader With Political Will” by the National Union of Civil Servants (NCSU).
The accolade is a testament to his distinguished leadership and his strong working relationship with the Union, staff, management, and members of the Commission.
The award ceremony took place on Thursday at the RMAFC Headquarters in Abuja, with union executives from the National Council, Federal Council, and various Commission chapters in attendance.
The event was filled with tributes to Dr. Shehu’s transparent, inclusive, and responsive leadership style. Union leaders commended his dedication to fostering a cooperative and peaceful working environment within the Commission, creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and admiration.
In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Shehu expressed his gratitude for the honour and reiterated his commitment to open dialogue and mutual respect as the bedrock of productive industrial relations. He explained that sincerity and fairness have guided his leadership approach since the start of his tenure, and that by actively listening to staff concerns and engaging the Union constructively, a harmonious and cooperative atmosphere has been achieved.
Dr. Shehu also shared insights into his leadership philosophy, which he attributes to his upbringing by a father who was both a civil servant and a community leader. He conveyed his deep-seated values of humility, service, and engagement. He made it clear that he respects the autonomy of the Union and has no interest in influencing their decisions or elections, preferring to work in good faith with whichever representatives the staff elect.
Union leaders shared their own perspectives on the Chairman’s tenure. Comrade Ganiyat Adeogun, the National Vice President, commended the strong harmony between the Chairman, management, and the staff union. The General Secretary, Comrade Gbenga Olowoyo, conveyed his deep appreciation for Dr. Shehu’s dedication and encouraged him to continue his outstanding work, suggesting that national honors could be in his future.
