The Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his bold and transformative actions in reforming Nigeria’s fiscal landscape.

The recent signing into law of the tax reform bills and the RMAFC bill marks an advancement in the country’s economic journey. These legislative achievements highlight the administration’s dedication to enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in revenue generation and allocation, setting a firm foundation for sustainable economic growth and national development.

The Commission has assured President Tinubu of its unwavering support and collaboration in implementing these far-reaching reforms. The tax reform bills themselves represent a major step forward in Nigeria’s efforts to improve revenue generation and reduce the country’s heavy dependence on oil revenue. By modernizing and streamlining the tax framework, these reforms aim to broaden the tax base and strengthen compliance. This approach is expected to stimulate inclusive economic growth across all sectors, fostering diversification and resilience in the national economy.

RMAFC also acknowledged the tireless efforts of the National Assembly members who played pivotal roles in passing the bills. Special commendations were given to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, GCON, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, GCON. Their leadership and commitment were instrumental in navigating the bills through the legislative process, ensuring that the reforms could be enacted without delay.

Additionally, the Commission expressed gratitude to the Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi SAN, along with policymakers and other stakeholders. Their collaborative efforts and expert inputs were vital in shaping the reforms into practical and effective laws. This collective dedication underscores the importance of teamwork in driving national progress.

Dr. Muhammed Bello Shehu, OFR, Chairman of RMAFC, praised President Tinubu’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s fiscal framework. By signing these historic bills, the President has demonstrated a deep understanding of the nation’s socio-economic realities and a genuine concern for the welfare of all Nigerians, especially low-income earners who will benefit significantly from the new tax policies. This landmark reform promises to bring relief and prosperity, paving the way for a brighter economic future for Nigeria.
