NCC Welcomes New Board Members to Drive Digital Economy Growth

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has formally welcomed the newly appointed members of its board and the board of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), following their appointments by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The leadership team, which includes Mr. Idris Olorunnimbe as the new Chairman-designate of the NCC, was received by the Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, Dr. Aminu Maida, and other staff.
The NCC expressed its appreciation to President Tinubu for the appointments, describing the new board members as “highly esteemed individuals of proven competence, with vast experience and impressive track records.”
The commission expects their combined expertise and strategic insight to enhance its regulatory work and propel the communications industry forward.
The new leaders are tasked with providing direction to further transform Nigeria’s digital economy, which aligns with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The NCC stated its readiness to work closely with the supervising Ministry and the new boards to achieve these goals.
The new board members of the NCC include: Idris Olorunnimbe (Chairman); Dr. Aminu Maida (Executive Vice Chairman/CEO); Abraham Oshadami (Executive Commissioner, Technical Services); Rimini Makama (Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management); Hajia Maryam Bayi; Col Abdulwahab Lawal (Rtd); Senator Lekan Mustafa; Chris Okorie; and Princess Oforitsenere Emiko
The USPF, a body created to provide information and communication technologies (ICTs) to rural and underserved areas, will now be chaired by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, with Mr. Olorunnimbe serving as the Vice Chairman.
