NCC Partners with Nokia Nigeria to Boost Telecommunications Skills in Nigeria

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has forged a strategic partnership with Nokia Solutions and Networks Nigeria.
The partnership, solidified through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), was formally endorsed by Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the NCC.
The focal point of this collaboration revolves around empowering young Nigerians with cutting-edge expertise in 4G and 5G radio and transmission technologies. This initiative is set to unfold at the Nigerian Communications Commission’s Digital Parks, signaling a commitment to nurturing homegrown talent within the realm of telecommunications.
Under the terms of the agreement, Nokia Nigeria will establish a fully functional 5G/4G test lab, leveraging its state-of-the-art radio and transmission technologies. This endeavor not only signifies a leap forward in technological capabilities but also underscores Nokia’s dedication to fostering innovation within Nigeria’s telecom sector.
Moreover, the collaboration aligns closely with the overarching vision of enhancing the skill sets of Nigerians, ensuring they are equipped with the contemporary proficiencies necessary to navigate the dynamic telecommunications industry. By providing access to specialized training and resources, the partnership endeavors to bridge the gap between technological advancements and human capital development.
In line with the strategic objectives outlined by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, the initiative also seeks to promote digital literacy and cultivate a robust pipeline of technical talents across Nigeria. As part of this endeavor, Nokia Nigeria will establish an Entrepreneur Learning Programme, catering to 200 Nigerian students selected from various regions across the nation’s six geopolitical zones.
Through this programme, participants will receive high-quality vocational training, equipping them with the requisite skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. By nurturing local talent and fostering a culture of innovation, the partnership between the NCC and Nokia Nigeria promises to usher in a new era of technological advancement and socioeconomic growth for Nigeria.
