MRS Oil Implements New Petrol Price of N935 Per Litre Nationwide
By Patience Ikpeme
MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, a leading player in the Nigerian downstream oil industry, has announced a reduction in petrol prices to N935 per litre across all its retail service stations nationwide.
This follows a partnership between the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and MRS Oil and Gas, which saw the ex-depot price reduced from N970 to N899.50 per litre.
In a statement, MRS Oil confirmed that the new pricing took effect immediately and assured Nigerians of its commitment to ensuring compliance. To this end, the company has established a digital platform and monitoring team while urging citizens to report any outlets not adhering to the new price.
“Petrol is now being sold at N935 at MRS Filling Stations nationwide. If you find any station not following this price, please report it. Call 08009447853 or email: NG-FMKPMGWHISTLEBLOWING@NG.KPMG.COM,” the company stated.
MRS Oil emphasized the eco-friendly nature of its products and called on other petrol station owners to join in improving Nigeria’s supply chain.
“We call on all petrol station owners to join MRS Oil Nigeria Plc in improving the supply chain of our beloved country, ensuring product quality and availability in every corner of Nigeria for the benefit of all Nigerians,” the statement added.
Checks by our correspondents confirmed that MRS Oil stations nationwide have implemented the new price. In Lagos, long queues were observed at MRS filling stations as commuters sought to purchase petrol at the reduced rate.
Mrs. Ibukun Phillips, a commuter at the MRS station on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, described the price reduction as a “victory for Nigeria.”
“This is the best gift of the season,” she said. “We are buying standard, eco-friendly petrol at a lower rate. My husband and I have decided we will only be using MRS from now on because we trust the quality and want to support the economy.”
Commercial bus driver Adio Ajibade also praised the price reduction, calling it a great relief during the festive season.
“This will reduce transportation costs and benefit Nigerians. God bless Alhaji Aliko Dangote for this effort,” he said.
Dr. Tunde Akanni, a public affairs analyst and university lecturer, lauded the collaboration between Dangote Petroleum Refinery and MRS Oil as a significant step towards affordability, quality, and sustainability.
“This move will not only ease the financial burden on Nigerians but also promote a more environmentally conscious approach to fuel consumption. It’s a win for the economy and public health,” Dr. Akanni said.
The partnership between Dangote Petroleum Refinery and MRS Oil Nigeria Plc underscores the potential of local collaboration in reducing dependency on imported fuel, enhancing product quality, and fostering economic growth. Nigerians now look to other marketers to follow suit, ensuring the benefits reach a wider audience.
