The Federal Government has released funds to settle the outstanding salaries of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Federal Universities (NASU).

This announcement was made by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) in a press statement signed by Bawa Mokwa, Director press and Public relations, on Saturday in Abuja.

The OAGF also stated that funds have also been released for retirees under the Nigerian Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme Sector (NUPCPS).

The OAGF confirmed that payments to NASU members have begun, with many reporting receipt of their salaries. The AGF assured of the government’s dedication to supporting the welfare of Nigerian workers and retirees.

One of the reasons for the initial withholding of these salaries was the Federal Government’s implementation of a “no work, no pay” policy after an eight-month strike in 2022, which resulted in the suspension of salary payments.
