Federal Government workers have started receiving their salaries for February 2026. The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) confirmed that the payment process began on Monday, March 2, 2025.

The Director of Press and Public Relations at the OAGF, Mr. Bawa Mokwa, explained that a small technical problem caused the delay in paying the February salaries. He stated that the issue has now been fixed and that the government has put measures in place to make sure it does not happen again.

In more good news for workers, the OAGF also announced that it has gotten the green light to pay one month out of the three months of outstanding wage award arrears. This means that while three months were owed, the process to pay one month has now been completed.

This N35,000 monthly wage award was first introduced by the Federal Government to help workers deal with the high cost of living after the removal of fuel subsidy. It was a temporary measure agreed upon with labour unions to support civil servants while everyone waited for a new minimum wage plan.

The government started paying these arrears in phases back in August 2025. Despite rumors that the government had stopped the payments, the Accountant-General’s office made it clear that they are keeping their promise to the workers.

“The Federal Government has not reneged on its obligation. The wage award arrears will continue to be paid in instalments of N35,000 per month until the outstanding balance is completely settled,” the OAGF said in a statement.

This update comes at a time when many workers and their unions have been calling on the government to speed up payments because of the rising prices of goods and services. By paying these arrears bit by bit, the government hopes to reduce the pressure on workers and maintain a good relationship with labour unions.

The OAGF assured all treasury-funded workers that the payments are being handled carefully and will continue until everyone is fully paid.
