Dangote Industries Limited has signed a massive $800 million agreement with Chinese firm Sinoma International Engineering Company to double the size of its cement factory in Itori, Ogun State.

The new deal will boost the production capacity of the Itori plant to 12 million metric tons every year. The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and the Chairman of Sinoma, Lin Zhong, signed the agreement, bringing the two big companies together to grow industry and trade across Africa.

This huge investment aims to help Dangote Cement meet the rising demand for cement inside Nigeria while also making sure the country can sell more cement to other nations. The move will strengthen Nigeria’s position as a top cement producer in the region and bring in much-needed foreign money.

Dangote thanked President Bola Tinubu for creating a good environment for businesses to grow in Nigeria. He explained that the decision to expand the factory came from Nigeria’s new plan to use concrete for building roads, as well as the company’s drive to export cement to other African nations that need it. This forms part of the company’s bigger Vision 2030 goal to produce between 90 million and 100 million metric tons of cement every year.

Speaking on the agreement, Dangote said, “This $800 million investment represents another bold step in our commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s industrial base and reinforcing our leadership in Africa’s cement industry. The expansion of our Itori plant to 12 million from 6 million metric tons per annum will not only enhance our ability to meet growing domestic demand but also significantly increase our export capacity, thereby generating valuable foreign exchange for the country. This project reflects our unwavering confidence in the Nigerian economy and our determination to contribute meaningfully to economic growth, job creation, and regional trade across Africa.”

The expansion will create many new jobs for Nigerians and support economic growth across the continent. Dangote added that his long partnership with Sinoma has already helped build some of the best cement factories in the world, and this new project shows strong faith in Nigeria’s economic future.

The Chairman of Sinoma, Lin Zhong, expressed joy over working with Dangote again, promising that his company will bring its best technology and engineering skills to finish the project successfully.

Lin Zhong said, “We are honoured to deepen our collaboration with Dangote Group through this landmark expansion project. Over the years, our partnership has produced some of the most modern and efficient cement manufacturing facilities in Africa, and this new investment further demonstrates our shared commitment to industrial excellence. The expansion of the Itori plant will not only increase production capacity but also enhance Nigeria’s position as a strategic manufacturing and export hub for the African continent. Sinoma will deploy its world-class engineering expertise, advanced technology, and global experience to ensure the successful delivery of this project to the highest standards.”

He added that this huge agreement shows that international investors still have great confidence in Nigeria’s economy, proving that strong partnerships are the key to building standard roads, buildings, and industries across Africa.

When the building work is finished, the Itori plant will act as a major center for producing and exporting quality cement, helping Nigeria build up its strength as a manufacturing power.
