Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana Plant, has given out free educational materials to primary school pupils in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, as part of its efforts to support education and ease the burden on parents.

The items distributed to the young learners included school bags, exercise books, writing materials, water bottles, and other vital tools needed to prepare them for the upcoming academic session.

According to an official statement from the company, the donation followed a survey carried out by Dangote Cement in the area. The study revealed that many pupils were coming to school without bags, carrying their books in their hands, while many others lacked basic items like pens, pencils, and exercise books.

Speaking on the initiative, the General Manager of the Social Performance Department at Dangote Cement, Obajana Plant, Mr. Ademola Adeyemi, explained that the gesture is part of the company’s continuous Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) work.

He explained that the Lokoja distribution came shortly after the company provided similar learning materials to pupils in its nearby communities, including Oyo, Iwaa, Obajana, and Apata. He also mentioned the recent opening of a modern hospital in Obajana, adding to earlier healthcare projects built for the Iwaa and Oyo communities.

Mr. Adeyemi said the cement maker has spent billions of naira over the years on different community projects, such as clean drinking water, road construction, and job empowerment schemes. He added that these community programmes match the development plans of the government and are carried out through strong, peaceful partnerships.

Reacting to the donation, the Head Teacher of UBE LGEA School, St. Luke Model II, Adankolo, Lokoja, Mr. Abubakar Sanni, expressed deep gratitude to the company for coming to the aid of the children.

He praised the Group President of the company, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for extending the support program beyond the factory’s immediate host communities to reach schools in the state capital. “We are very grateful to the management and to Alhaji Aliko Dangote for remembering our pupils in Lokoja,” Sanni said.

Parents, community leaders, and school managers also expressed appreciation to Dangote Cement Plc for the timely support, praying for the continued growth and success of the company as it works to improve lives across Kogi State.
