Staff of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) on Wednesday gathered to bid farewell to the Director of the Chairman’s Office, Mr. Paul Adefusi, at a retirement ceremony that celebrated his long years of service and the role he played in shaping the institution’s administrative culture.

In a statement issued by the Commission’s Head of Information and Public Relations, Maryam Umar Yusuf, the Chairman of RMAFC, Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, described Adefusi as a disciplined professional whose intellectual depth and strong sense of duty left a lasting imprint on the organisation. He said Adefusi’s work ethic and conduct had set a standard for others, adding that his contributions would continue to be felt across the Commission.

“Mr. Adefusi’s humility, professionalism and exemplary behaviour have, in many ways, strengthened our institutional growth and internal cohesion,” Bello said, urging him to view retirement as a new phase rather than a conclusion to active service. He encouraged the former director to consider opportunities in consultancy, capacity building and advisory roles, noting that his experience remained a valuable asset to both the public and private sectors.

Earlier, the Director of the Fiscal Efficiency Department, Dr. Tanimu Adamu Aliyu, who spoke on behalf of the Secretary to the Commission, Engr. Joseph Okechukwu Nwaze, referred to Adefusi as a quiet but effective force within the system. He said Adefusi’s integrity and dedication had reinforced the operations of the Chairman’s Office and improved coordination across departments.

Colleagues and senior officials from units overseeing customs services, gas investments, solid minerals and other divisions also took turns to pay tribute, describing him as a dependable team player and a thoughtful leader who listened and guided with sincerity. Many speakers said his legacy would be reflected in the professional standards and collaborative spirit he helped nurture within the Commission.

Responding, Adefusi expressed gratitude to the Commission’s leadership and staff for the cooperation and encouragement he received throughout his career. He said his years at RMAFC were deeply rewarding and promised to continue upholding the principles of integrity, professionalism and public service that shaped his time in office.

The send-off, attended by management and staff, served both as a moment of reflection on Adefusi’s career and a reaffirmation of the Commission’s commitment to the values he represented, as colleagues wished him success in the next chapter of his professional journey.
