NAICOM Grants New Licenses to SanlamAllianz

The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has formally presented new operational licenses to SanlamAllianz Life and General Insurance Nigeria Ltd., following regulatory approval for the merged entities.
During the licensing ceremony, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, the Commissioner for Insurance, spoke about NAICOM’s firm dedication to nurturing the expansion of insurance companies across Nigeria.
He stressed the importance of these companies adhering strictly to regulatory requirements, noting that compliance is vital for maintaining industry integrity and building consumer trust.
Mr. Omosehin also urged SanlamAllianz to make good corporate governance, operational stability, and efficient claims settlement processes a priority. These factors, he added, are essential for fostering confidence among policyholders and ensuring sustainable growth in Nigeria’s competitive insurance market.
Furthermore, the Commissioner detailed NAICOM’s commitment to removing unnecessary impediments that have historically hindered the insurance industry’s performance. By streamlining regulatory processes, NAICOM aims to create a more supportive environment for insurance companies to flourish and innovate.
The Commissioner expressed optimism that the merger of Sanlam and Allianz would fortify their combined capabilities, ultimately contributing positively to the overall development of Nigeria’s insurance industry.
