The family of Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has announced the passing of her husband, Mr. Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun.
Known warmly as Niyi, the 62-year-old businessman and devout Christian passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos.
The news was shared in a statement signed by Reverend C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family. “It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother, Mr. Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun,” the family statement read.
Niyi was remembered as a man of integrity, generosity, and strong faith who dedicated his life to his work, his community, and his family. “Niyi was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity, and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him,” the Reverend noted. “He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.”
He is survived by his wife, former Minister Kemi Adeosun, his children, and his siblings, including Mr. Adewale (Wale) Adeosun, Founder of Kuramo Capital.
Finding comfort in their faith, the family shared a Bible verse from Revelation 14:13: “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
The family asked for privacy as they grieve this heavy loss, noting that funeral and burial details will be shared later.
“We thank all who have reached out with prayers, condolences, and support,” the family added. “May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the Lord.”
