Provoke Media’s annual “100 Most Influential” list celebrates the top in-house communicators globally. These communications and marketing chiefs hold considerable influence through their voices, the stature of their companies, and their role in selecting PR agencies.

The selection process considers the current communications landscape, characterized by constant scrutiny from consumers, media, and stakeholders. Provoke Media emphasizes the importance of effective communication during these challenging times, where “permacrisis” – a state of constant uncertainty and instability – is a defining feature of the global environment.

Chiejina joins esteemed company on the list, including: Zenia Mucha, Chief Brand & Communications Officer, TikTok; Vanessa Broadhurst, EVP, Global Corporate Affairs, Johnson & Johnson; Valerie Tan, SVP Corporate Communications, CSR & Media, Emirates; Steve John, Chief Communications & Brand Officer, HSBC; Sally Susman, EVP, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Pfizer; Sandy Rodriguez, Global Chief Communications Officer, McDonalds

Other notable inclusions encompass global marketing leaders like Abhinav Kumar, Global CMO of TCS, and AJ Jones, EVP, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer for Starbucks.

Provoke Media’s recognition system prioritizes credibility and transparency. The 2024 list reflects the breadth of the communications industry, showcasing leaders from 20 different countries. While Europe holds the largest share (28%), with the UK contributing significantly, the list highlights a growing global influence in communications strategy.

Chiejina’s impressive career trajectory aligns with this recognition. He holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos (1981), followed by several postgraduate degrees, including an M.Sc in Industrial Relations & Personnel Management, an M.A. in Organisational Analysis & Behaviour, and an M.A. in Development Studies.

Chiejina’s experience spans various editorial roles within renowned publications like African Economic Digest and African Concord. He has also held leadership positions in financial institutions like Zenith Bank and Oceanic Bank, where he oversaw corporate communications. Currently, as Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer at Dangote Industries, Chiejina spearheads communication strategies across all business units and Pan-African operations.
