The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) has announced its S.C.A.L.E initiative, which aims to reach one million consumers by facilitating credit for purchasing locally made goods and services.
Launched on Monday, the initiative will connect credit-backed consumers with local vendors and manufacturers, fostering growth across various sectors.
According to CREDICORP, the initiative focuses on: Home Improvements: This includes furniture, appliances, and building materials, enabling households to upgrade their living standards through incentivized consumer credit for locally manufactured products.
Mobility: Covering cars, buses, tricycles (keke), and bicycles, particularly compressed natural gas (CNG) and electric-powered options, this segment promotes affordable and eco-friendly transportation while boosting Nigeria’s automotive industry.
Electronics: Enhancing digital inclusion by providing affordable access to essential digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
Energy Solutions: Addressing energy challenges by offering sustainable options like solar panels and efficient generators for homes and small businesses.
General Merchandise: Improving access to quality healthcare products, apparel, textiles, food, and beverages while driving growth in these critical sectors.
“S.C.A.L.E. is a bold initiative to support Nigerian enterprises by stimulating demand, which in turn will grow local industries and create jobs. This programme connects credit-backed consumers with credible local manufacturers and vendors across key sectors,” the Corporation stated.
CREDICORP has urged local vendors and manufacturers to register for the first phase of the initiative by December 15, 2024, to participate in this transformative programme.
