UsawaConnect Debuts to Ease E-Invoicing for Nigerian Firms
By Patience Ikpeme
As the Nigerian business landscape faces a seismic shift in tax administration, Pillarcraft Cloud Solutions has stepped forward with the launch of UsawaConnect. This new platform is specifically engineered to assist organizations in navigating the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) e-invoicing framework, a mandate that transforms how commercial transactions are recorded and verified.
The transition marks a departure from traditional billing methods. Under the new regulatory environment, invoices are no longer mere documents shared between two parties. Instead, they must be digitally structured, validated through government-approved systems, and assigned unique reference identifiers. For an invoice to be recognized as legally valid, it must be submitted electronically through these designated channels.
This regulatory evolution follows a strict timeline that has already begun to impact the nation’s largest earners. Businesses classified as large taxpayers, with annual turnovers of ₦5 billion and above, have officially entered the enforcement stage. Meanwhile, medium-sized enterprises generating between ₦1 billion and ₦5 billion are scheduled to enter the scope of the regulation in July 2026, with full enforcement slated for January 2027.
The risks associated with ignoring these deadlines are significant. Pillarcraft Cloud Solutions noted in a recent statement that unprepared businesses face a litany of operational hurdles. “Businesses that fail to prepare risk invoice rejection, delays in receiving payments, operational disruption, and increased exposure during tax audits,” the company stated.
UsawaConnect serves as a technical intermediary, allowing companies to maintain their current workflows while meeting the stringent demands of the NRS. The platform integrates with existing accounting software, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools, and Point of Sale (POS) systems. By doing so, it automatically generates compliant documentation and transmits it to the NRS platform, sparing businesses the cost and complexity of overhauling their internal digital infrastructure.
While the mandate is a corporate requirement, the practical execution of these changes is expected to rest on the shoulders of specialized professionals. Accountants, tax practitioners, and technology consultants are identified as the primary drivers who will interpret these new rules and deploy the necessary solutions.
Bayode Agbi, CEO of Pillarcraft Accounting & Cloud Solutions, pointed out that the technical nature of the transition requires expert guidance. “E-invoicing is not something most businesses can implement on their own,” Agbi said. “Accountants and advisors will be at the center of this transition. UsawaConnect enables them to deliver this efficiently, while helping businesses stay compliant without disruption.”
To support this professional ecosystem, the company is introducing the UsawaConnect Partner Program. This initiative allows accounting firms and consultants to offer e-invoicing implementation as a specialized service, effectively positioning these advisors as essential players in the country’s digital tax evolution. The program is intended to help these professionals support their clients through the compliance transition while establishing new streams of advisory revenue.
The platform is built to scale across the economic spectrum, catering to large organizations currently facing enforcement, medium-sized businesses approaching their 2026 deadlines, and small-to-medium enterprises looking for a simplified path to compliance. By focusing on seamless integration, the solution aims to protect business continuity during a period of significant regulatory change.
