The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has launched an updated Service Charter and framework aimed at enhancing confidence and trust in Nigeria’s pension system.
This initiative is expected to significantly boost stakeholder confidence in the sector.
The unveiling was conducted by the Acting Director-General of PenCom, Omolola Bridget-Oloworaran, during an event marking Customer Service Week on Thursday in Abuja.
In her address, the Acting Director-General highlighted the significance of the updated Service Charter, noting it represents a major milestone for both PenCom and the broader pension sector.
“The Service Charter we are presenting today defines clear service delivery expectations, both for us at PenCom and for the Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) and other operators we regulate,” she stated.
Bridget-Oloworaran emphasized PenCom’s unwavering commitment to delivering efficient services grounded in professionalism, transparency, and responsiveness. The launch is seen as a critical step toward reinforcing this dedication, particularly for contributors and retirees.
“It sets the benchmarks that will guide our interactions and ensure the trust placed in us by the Nigerian public is maintained and continuously strengthened. Excellent service delivery is not just a regulatory requirement but a key driver of confidence in the pension system,” she added.
The updated charter addresses key areas such as service standards, information dissemination, non-discrimination, accessibility, grievance redress mechanisms, and the expectations PenCom has for its stakeholders. It establishes clear service expectations for both PenCom and PFAs, setting benchmarks to further enhance public trust in the Nigerian pension system.
