PenCom, Kogi Government Strengthen Partnership on Pension Administration

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has expressed its readiness to work closely with the Kogi State Government to improve pension administration and safeguard the welfare of workers and retirees in the state.
PenCom’s Director-General, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, made this commitment when the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, paid a courtesy visit to the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
During the meeting, Oloworaran commended Governor Ododo for his dedication to the welfare of pensioners and acknowledged his role in tackling challenges associated with pension administration in the state.
According to her, PenCom remains committed to supporting states in ensuring a sustainable and transparent pension system that guarantees financial security for retirees.
Governor Ododo, in his remarks, restated his administration’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of pensioners. He disclosed that his government has put measures in place to ensure the regular disbursement of monthly gratuity payments, while also working to clear outstanding pension liabilities.
The Governor noted that his advocacy for pension reforms predates his assumption of office and pledged to continue championing initiatives that protect the rights and welfare of retirees.
He also congratulated Ms. Oloworaran on her appointment as the Director-General of PenCom, describing her as a proud daughter of Kogi State and assuring her of his full support in the discharge of her duties.
Both PenCom and the Kogi State Government agreed on the need for stronger collaboration to build a robust pension system that provides sustainable benefits and financial security for workers in retirement.
