Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has approved a new minimum wage of seventy-two thousand five hundred naira (N72,500) for civil servants in the state, with immediate effect.

“The new minimum wage of N72,500 should take immediate effect to enable it to cope with the current situation in the country,” the governor said.

Mr. Elijah Evenemi, Chairman of the Minimum Wage Committee, emphasized that the agreement on the minimum wage is a triumph not for any political party, but for the benefit of the masses.

He expressed gratitude to the governor for allowing the committee the freedom to operate and work toward a shared objective.

On July 18, 2024, President Bola Tinubu approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers and committed to reviewing the national minimum wage law every three years. Kudos to him. May Allah SWT give him strength, courage, wisdom and good health to continue with all these good works he has started. Amin. Congratulations to all Kogi state workers.
