October Salaries Safe Despite IPPIS Upgrade, FG Assures Workers
By Patience Ikpeme
The Federal Government has moved to calm fears among its employees, assuring workers that their October salaries will not be disrupted despite the ongoing software upgrade within the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).
The assurance came in a statement from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), signed by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press, which refuted recent reports circulating on social media claiming a delay in October payments due to the system upgrade.
The OAGF explained that the current action is part of a plan to enhance efficiency and accuracy in payroll management. IPPIS previously operated on three payroll platforms, but one was successfully migrated to the “SoftSuite” application in 2024, leaving two active platforms: EBS and SoftSuite.
Due to the “suboptimal performance” of the EBS platform, the Federal Government has decided to consolidate all payroll activities under the SoftSuite application.
The statement from the OAGF said, “This is not a new development, but a continuation of an earlier initiative to enhance efficiency and accuracy.”
The OAGF confirmed that the integration of all payroll processes into a single platform has been carefully managed. While the office acknowledged that minor issues may arise during the transition, all observed errors and omissions are being addressed promptly, and management does not anticipate any significant disruptions.
The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation assures all federal workers and stakeholders that October salaries remain intact and will be paid as scheduled.
The OAGF advised Treasury and IPPIS staff to disregard the misleading reports, clarifying that they did not originate from the official office.
