NRS Unveils New Identity as FIRS Transition Enters New Phase

The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has officially introduced its institutional brand identity in Abuja, marking a definitive shift from the now-defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
This transition follows the enactment of the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Act 2025, which was signed by President Bola Tinubu in June 2025 to modernize the nation’s fiscal framework.
At the unveiling ceremony held on Wednesday, the Executive Chairman of the NRS, Zacch Adedeji, described the new logo and brand elements as a vital step in the progression of revenue administration in Nigeria.
He noted that the visual change represents a move toward a more integrated and service-oriented system designed to meet contemporary economic goals.
“The unveiling of the NRS identity reflects a renewed commitment to a more unified, efficient, and service-oriented revenue system, one that is aligned with Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda and global best practices,” Adedeji stated.
The new identity is intended to communicate a “continuity of purpose” while signaling an increase in institutional capacity. According to the Chairman, the agency is adopting a “forward-looking approach” to aid taxpayers and contribute more effectively to national development.
A statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Dare Adekanmbi, characterized the launch as a milestone for both the government and the public. It noted that the agency remains dedicated to “transparency, partnership, and service excellence.”
“The unveiling of this new identity represents not an end, but the beginning of a strengthened relationship between the revenue authority and the Nigerian public—built on trust, clarity, and shared prosperity,” the statement added.
The transition from the FIRS to the NRS is part of a broader package of four tax reform laws aimed at streamlining collection processes and enhancing revenue generation.
With the new brand identity now public, the agency is set to operate under a mandate that seeks to harmonize various tax streams and foster a more transparent relationship with the business community and individual taxpayers alike.
