In an effort to catalyze robust economic growth through digital innovation, the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) has signaled a collaborative initiative with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) aimed at achieving a sustainable 12% annual GDP growth.

This disclosure was made at the CBN headquarters in Abuja, when participants of NIPSS’s Senior Executive Course Programme, Study Group 6, led by Professor Ayo Omotayo, the Director-General of NIPSS, paid a courtesy visit on Tuesday.

Professor Omotayo underscored the pivotal role of the CBN in propelling economic advancement, expressing optimism that a consistent 12% GDP growth rate over the next five years is attainable with commitment.

Drawing a vivid analogy, he likened the CBN’s significance to a crucial tool required for assembling and advancing economic endeavors, describing it as “the key figure holding the screwdriver, ready to integrate various components.”

NIPSS’s vision extends towards enhancing financial inclusion for all Nigerians through digital transformation, particularly addressing challenges such as literacy disparities and the plight of out-of-school children.

Professor Omotayo envisioned a future where essential services, including healthcare, could be seamlessly delivered through digital platforms, emphasizing the pivotal role of digital technologies in fostering sustainable job creation and empowering the nation’s youth.

In response, Mr. Yemi Cardoso, represented by Deputy Governor Corporate Services Dr. Bala M. Bello, echoed the CBN’s recognition of Nigeria’s evolving digital landscape. He applauded NIPSS’s strategic focus and reaffirmed the CBN’s unwavering commitment to leveraging digital technologies for bolstering financial inclusion, productivity enhancement, and nurturing a conducive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship.
