Nigeria Set to Become Africa’s Third Largest Fiber Optic Powerhouse with $2 Billion “Fibre Forward” Project

Nigeria has set its sights on becoming a continental leader in digital connectivity with the launch of the ambitious “Fibre Forward” Strategic Development Project.
This initiative, budgeted at $2 billion, aims to significantly expand the nation’s existing fiber-optic backbone infrastructure by a staggering 90,000 kilometers.
Speaking of the project at the Fibre Forward Strategic Development Workshop, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, hailed the initiative as a “significant leap forward” in revolutionizing Nigeria’s connectivity landscape.
The project represents a pivotal milestone on the path towards a digitally driven economy, and the government has pledged its unwavering commitment to its success.
Fibre Forward’s impact extends beyond enabling faster internet connections. Minister Edun highlighted the project’s potential to: drive economic growth as improved connectivity is anticipated to stimulate economic activity across various sectors, fostering innovation and entrepreneurial ventures.
