The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, has reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Cardoso made this statement when the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Nigeria, H.E. Faisal bin Ibrahim Alghamdi, and his delegation visited the CBN headquarters recently.
The CBN Governor stressed the importance of partnerships in key sectors that drive economic growth and expressed the Bank’s readiness to support collaborative efforts.
“The Central Bank of Nigeria remains committed to advancing partnerships that will deepen economic ties between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. We will continue to explore opportunities that yield tangible benefits for both countries,” Mr. Cardoso stated.
He also thanked the Saudi government for its hospitality during the recent AIUla event, which was hosted by the Saudi Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Regional Office in Riyadh.
In response, Ambassador Alghamdi appreciated the warm reception from the CBN Governor and highlighted Saudi Arabia’s interest in expanding cooperation with Nigeria. He emphasized the Kingdom’s willingness to collaborate in key sectors such as renewable energy, agriculture, and water connectivity.
“We are eager to strengthen our relationship with Nigeria and explore mutually beneficial opportunities that will contribute to the prosperity of both nations,” Ambassador Alghamdi said.
The visit marks a significant step in Nigeria-Saudi relations, as both countries aim to leverage their strengths for long-term economic growth and stability.
