FG Collaborates with WFP for Improved Food Security

The Federal Government of Nigeria is set to collaborate with World Food Programme (WFP) , a move aimed at improving Nigeria’s Agricultural Sector for improved food security.
This was revealed by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun , in his office when he received a high-level delegation from the World Food Programme (WFP) led by the newly appointed Regional Director, Mr. Chris Nikoi, on Tuesday in Abuja.
The Minister commended the WFP for their proactive engagement descrbing the move as one that is need for the advancement of the agricultural sector , recognising the significance of their interventions which will help in advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Reform Agenda, particularly in the areas of enhanced food availability and agricultural production.
Wale Edun stated that the visit was part of ongoing efforts to address the food security challenges in the country and also to boost agricultural productivity in Nigeria in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration.
He further emphasized that the Federal Ministry of Finance would take the necessary steps to facilitate the implementation of the proposed initiatives.
The WFP delegation pointed out areas where the partnership will be beneficial to Nigeria , they also expressed readiness to support Nigeria’s Agricultural Sector through collaborative ventures. Key among these initiatives are service delivery programs focused on the provision of fertilizers and seeds, which are essential for enhancing farming output and ensuring food security.
By working together, Nigeria hopes to see improvements in food security and agriculture, which will also help the country’s economy grow. This partnership will lead to better farming practices, more food for the people, and a brighter future for everyone in Nigeria.
