The NCS Comptroller-General, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, affirmed the partnership during a meeting with NCC delegates at the Customs Corporate Headquarters. He emphasized the immense potential of this collaboration in eradicating the pervasive issue of piracy in Nigeria.
“This agreement presents an invaluable opportunity for our respective organizations to establish an enduring legacy of eradicating piracy in our country,” Adeniyi stated.
The NCS, he elaborated, has formulated comprehensive plans to engage with relevant stakeholders, bolstering its anti-piracy initiatives through innovative training programs and creative endeavors.
Highlighting the importance of training NCS officers in anti-piracy strategies, the CGC commented, “This program will equip our officers with the necessary expertise and values to enhance their capacity and resolve in combatting piracy.”
Adeniyi expressed profound gratitude for the collaboration, stressing the crucial role of protecting intellectual and creative property in driving Nigeria’s economic growth.
Earlier, the NCC Director-General, Dr. John Asein, commended the NCS for its unwavering commitment to combating piracy. He emphasized the urgency of addressing this issue to protect the nation’s creative and intellectual assets.
“The primary motivation behind our visit, Comptroller-General Adeniyi, was to extend our congratulations on your appointment and to seek your collaboration in our fight against piracy,” Asein explained.
He further elaborated, “In addition to fostering the creative talents of individuals across various sectors, the NCC can effectively fulfill its mandate through cooperation with the Nigeria Customs Service.”
This strategic partnership between the NCS and NCC represents a significant milestone in safeguarding Nigeria’s intellectual and creative industries, paving the way for a future where innovation and artistic expression can flourish without the threat of piracy.
