New Perm Sec Resumes at Ministry of Finance

The newly appointed permanent secretary of the federal ministry of finance, Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya has officially resumed office at the ministry.

This event was attended by the Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun who welcomed Mrs Jafiya.

While making his speech, the Minister stressed the importance of unity and teamwork within the ministry, stating that success can be achieved through fellowship, common purpose and communal efforts. He further encouraged all staffs to continue to work together in a brotherly and sisterly spirit to achieve their goals.

In her speech, Mrs Jafiya appreciated every one for their warm welcome and pointed out that her basic responsibility is to collaborate with Minister Edun in executing the ministerial performance Bond of the presidential priorities and deliverables, as outlined during the presidential Retreat.

She further stressed on the need for collective efforts in other to align their activities with the Six Pillars of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plans 2021-2025. She identified specific initiatives such as digitization policies, human resource management, capacity building, performance management systems, innovation, and staff welfare as areas that require immediate attention.

Mrs. Jafiya further encouraged open communication, stressing her willingness to welcome suggestions and advice on moving the Ministry forward. She underlined the importance of constructive engagement with strategic partners and stakeholders to fulfill the mandates of the Renewed Hope agenda.

The event also provided an opportunity to formally thank the outgoing Permanent Secretary, Aliyu Ahmed, and express appreciation for Mr. Okokon Udo, who had been holding the position in the interim. Mr. Udo assured Mrs. Jafiya of his support and cooperation, reassuring her that the Ministry is a familiar terrain.

Concluding the ceremony, Mrs. Omobola Olushola-Dada, the Director of Human Resource Development at the Federal Ministry of Finance, pledged the allegiance of the staff to give their best, aiming to achieve the Ministry’s mandate.
