NESG Appoints Uchenna Ogbonna as Executive Director of Ernest Shonekan Centre

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has announced the appointment of Mr. Uchenna Ogbonna as the Executive Director of the Ernest Shonekan Centre for Legislative Reforms and Economic Development.
Mr. Ogbonna assumes the role as the inaugural leader of the Centre, which was launched during the 29th Nigerian Economic Summit (NES 29) in October 2023. The Centre’s primary objective is to drive legislative, regulatory, and judicial reforms that enhance Nigeria’s economic competitiveness and improve the nation’s business environment.
Dr. Tayo Aduloju, CEO of the NESG, expressed confidence in Mr. Ogbonna’s leadership, stating, “Mr. Ogbonna’s extensive experience and visionary leadership align perfectly with our mission to drive positive change in Nigeria’s economic landscape. We are confident that under his stewardship, the Centre will make significant strides in influencing policy and fostering sustainable growth.”
Mr. Ogbonna brings a wealth of experience to this role, with a distinguished career spanning over two decades in the private sector. His expertise encompasses law, financial services, and legislative reforms. He holds an LLB in Law, a BL from the Nigerian Law School, an MBA in Insurance and Risk Management, and an MSc in Management. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Management.
He has received comprehensive training in various fields, including Risk Management, Finance, Legal, Corporate Governance, Strategy, and Leadership, from prestigious institutions worldwide. Notably, Mr. Ogbonna is an alumnus of the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
Throughout his career, Mr. Ogbonna has actively participated in numerous legislative processes at both the national and state levels. His expertise extends to investments, compliance and regulatory affairs, government relations, business operations, board dynamics, legal risk management, and corporate governance.
Upon his appointment, Mr. Ogbonna expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Legislative reforms and economic development are crucial to our nation’s progress. I am honored to be appointed to lead this process for the ESC and eager to work alongside our dedicated team to drive impactful change.
