The Executive Director, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) Mrs Nonye Ayeni projected 35 percent growth in non oil export performance in 2025.

Ayeni revealed this in Abuja on Friday while fielding questions from newsmen after the presentation of the non oil export performance presentation for year 2024, a performance higher than from the 4.517 percent recorded in year 2023.

She said the increase experienced in 2024 is a measure of the council’s efforts through various collaborations with other relevant agencies towards economic diversification, despite the economic realities and the global economic downturn.

The NEPC boss highlighted some of the efforts that birthed the impressive performance of the council to include, the active diversification of the economy through the non-oil sector with emphasis on promoting agriculture, solid minerals, and manufacturing; increased Production in Energy, Agricultural, and Solid Mineral Sectors.

Other factors which contributed to the feat, Ayeni said include the federal government’s current effort to enhance trade through effective policy implementation (both fiscal and monetary) under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The global economy’s recovery from previous downturns has increased demand for Nigerian exports, further boosting export performance”.

“It is also interesting to note that there was an increase in the volume of agricultural commodities as non-oil export returns showed that 7.291 million metric tonnes of exportable products were exported in the period under review.

“The result for 2024 would have been much more considering that the volume of Informal Cross Border Trade (ICBT) represents a reasonable percentage of our exports.”

Ayeni explained that a total of 246. distinct products were exported in the year in review. All of which spanned manufactured, semi-processed goods, industrial extracts, and agricultural commodities.
