The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has underscored its commitment to drive technological advancement in Nigeria.
This commitment was given during a recent visit by its Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, to the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Institute (AMTDI) in Jalingo, Taraba State.
Mr. Halilu’s visit served a dual purpose: to emphasize NASENI’s dedication to fostering innovation and to engage with the AMTDI management team. Discussions focused on identifying operational challenges, areas for improvement, and strategies to align the institute’s goals with NASENI’s mission of propelling scientific and engineering infrastructure development in Nigeria.
Established under NASENI, AMTDI spearheads advancements in manufacturing technologies. Their focus lies in research, development, and dissemination of cutting-edge solutions to propel industrial growth across the nation.
Mr. Halilu meticulously evaluated the institute’s equipment and staff working conditions. He emphasized the importance of well-equipped and conducive environments for successful research and development endeavors. A crucial aspect of his assessment involved pinpointing vital needs and opportunities for upgrading AMTDI’s facilities to meet global benchmarks.
Following the inspection, Mr. Halilu expressed his satisfaction with the dedication and contributions of AMTDI’s staff to Nigeria’s technological progress. He reiterated NASENI’s unwavering support in providing the necessary resources to enhance the capabilities of all its institutes.

“AMTDI plays a pivotal role in Nigeria’s technological landscape,” declared Mr. Halilu. “This visit underscores my commitment to supporting our development institutes that stand at the forefront of innovation and growth in advanced manufacturing technologies. We are dedicated to addressing the challenges identified and providing the necessary support to elevate AMTDI and others to even greater heights.”
The visit concluded with a tour of AMTDI’s facilities, where Mr. Halilu obtained firsthand insights into the institute’s ongoing projects and initiatives. He commended the institute’s efforts in nurturing a culture of innovation and pledged continued support to achieve their shared goals.
Earlier, Engr. John Christopher Tanko, Acting Managing Director of AMTDI, expressed his gratitude for the visit and highlighted the significance of NASENI’s leadership in achieving their mandate.

“We are honored by the EVC/CEO’s visit and his keen interest in our work,” said Engr. Tanko. “This inspection reinforces our confidence in your transformational leadership and commitment to our growth and development. We are dedicated to leveraging the support provided to enhance our research, improve our facilities, and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s industrial advancement.”
The visit by Mr. Halilu signifies NASENI’s commitment to empowering AMTDI and, by extension, propelling Nigeria’s journey towards becoming a leader in advanced manufacturing technologies.
