NAICOM Mourns the Death of Wife of Commissioner for Insurance

The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has announced the passing of Mrs. Oyinade Folashade Thomas, the wife of the Commissioner for Insurance/Chief Executive. Mrs. Thomas, synonymous with strength, support, and inspiration, passed away on April 12, 2024, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Oyinade Thomas was a pillar of strength, serving as a beacon of inspiration to her family, friends, and colleagues. With her compassionate and generous nature, she touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of kindness that will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
A release from NAICOM stated that “throughout her life, Mrs. Thomas exemplified dedication and unwavering commitment to the insurance industry”. She played an instrumental role in the mission of developing and advancing the insurance sector in Nigeria, and recognized the crucial role insurance plays in providing financial security to individuals, businesses, and communities.
NAICOM noted that the loss of Mrs. Thomas “will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her. The National Insurance Commission expressed its heartfelt condolences to the Commissioner for Insurance/Chief Executive and the entire family during this challenging time”.
Furthermore, the Commission extended gratitude to insurance industry stakeholders, friends, and well-wishers for their overwhelming sympathy and prayers.
The outpouring of support and understanding the Commission said “is deeply appreciated as the Commissioner for Insurance/Chief Executive mourns the loss of his beloved wife”.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated in the future.
