The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has lauded the National Data Protection Commission (NDPC) for its proactive approach in sensitizing the public on data protection before full enforcement of relevant laws.
The commendation came during a courtesy visit by the National Commissioner/CEO of NDPC, Mr. Vincent O. Olatunji, to the Commissioner for Insurance (CfI)/CEO, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, in his office.
Mr. Omosehin expressed NAICOM’s readiness to partner with NDPC in achieving their respective mandates. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in ensuring the protection of sensitive data within the insurance sector.
In his remarks, Mr. Olatunji explained that the NDPC, as a relatively new government agency, is focused on creating awareness about data protection and seeking cooperation from other regulatory bodies to embed data protection policies within their operations.
The visit underscores the commitment of both agencies to safeguard the privacy of individuals and businesses in Nigeria, as data protection becomes increasingly crucial in the digital age.
