By Patience Ikpeme
The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) are joining forces to educate the public and boost insurance uptake across the country.
NAICOM’s Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Olorundare Sunday Thomas, recently met with NOA Director General Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu to explore collaboration.
Their goal is to leverage NOA’s extensive network and outreach to educate Nigerians about the advantages of having insurance.
“Nigerians need the right orientation with regards to insurance,” emphasized Mr. Sunday Thomas. “By working together, we can reach more people and empower them to make informed decisions about their future.”
The NOA chief echoed his enthusiasm: “We’re happy to lend our structure, reach, and platforms to this crucial initiative. We understand the needs of communities nationwide and are committed to spreading the word about insurance benefits” Issa-Onilu said
Mallam Issa-Onilu even shared a personal experience: “Remember how my car was stolen in 2007? Thanks to insurance, the claim was promptly settled. It truly made a difference in a difficult time.”
A detailed collaboration plan is now being developed with both agencies on board. The will be informative campaigns, community outreach programmes, and educational initiatives aimed at raising awareness and encouraging Nigerians to embrace the security and peace of mind offered by insurance.
