Former Nigerian Lawmaker, Cairo Ojougboh, Set for Final Rest

The family of the late Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, a distinguished former member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, has unveiled the burial arrangements for the revered politician.

Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, who passed away on February 7, 2024, at the age of 64, will be laid to rest on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Ojougboh Family Compound in Agbor, Delta State.

The funeral proceedings will commence with a Funeral Mass starting at 10:00a.m. at the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church along Old Lagos/Asaba Road, Agbor, Delta State. Following the Mass, interment will promptly follow.

A reception will be held on the same day at the Open Ground, Opposite Central Hospital, Agbor, to honor the memory of the late politician.

Described as an outstanding figure in Delta State, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh was renowned for his grassroots involvement and fearless advocacy in politics, transcending tribal and linguistic barriers. He dedicated his life to public service and the betterment of his constituents and the nation as a whole.

Preceding the interment, several memorial services have been scheduled, including a Requiem Mass on Thursday, April 16, 2024, at 4:00p.m. at the Church for The Assumption, Asokoro, Abuja, and a Vigil Mass on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, Alihame, Agbor, Delta State.

The Christian Wake will take place on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 6:00p.m. to 10:00p.m. at the Ojougboh Family Compound, Alihame, Agbor, Delta State, offering an opportunity for friends, family, and well-wishers to pay their respects.

The culminating event of the burial activities will be a Thanksgiving Mass on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 9:00a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, Alihame, Agbor, Delta State, to celebrate the life and legacy of the departed leader.

Dr. Cairo Ojougboh represented Ika Federal Constituency of Delta State in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007 and held the position of Executive Director Project at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to everyone for their unwavering support during this period of bereavement.
