FG, World Bank Discuss Reforms to Boost Electricity Access

The federal government has held discussions with the World Bank to address key reforms aimed at improving electricity access, which is seen as crucial for infrastructure development and economic growth.
The meeting, led by Minister of Finance Wale Edun and World Bank Vice President for Infrastructure Guangzhe Chen, focused on Nigeria’s role in the Mission 300 project, a joint initiative with the African Development Bank (AfDB) that aims to provide electricity to 300 million people across Africa by 2030.
Edun emphasized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to this project, highlighting the importance of reforms to enhance efficiency, expand access, and ensure sustainable energy solutions for Nigeria’s growing population.
The meeting also addressed challenges such as inefficient distribution networks and poor grid infrastructure, with both parties agreeing on the need for a sustainable approach to energy production.
With key stakeholders from the World Bank and Nigeria’s energy sector present, the meeting reaffirmed the importance of international collaboration in achieving Nigeria’s energy goals, which are essential for driving economic growth and national prosperity.
