The Federal Government plans to mobilize stakeholders to accelerate efforts aimed at reducing poverty rapidly in Nigeria.
This initiative involves coordinating with various groups to implement effective strategies for poverty alleviation, aligning with broader national and international goals.
Senator Abubakar Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, has stated that all government agencies, especially the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, will be mobilized to design poverty alleviation initiatives capable of attracting private funding and investment.
Bagudu disclosed this on Monday during the Humanitarian Roundtable in Abuja, which was organised by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
“We are determined to support our hardworking people in participating meaningfully in the local economy to generate profitable and efficient activities that can give them the income they need to escape poverty. That is a model of humanitarian and poverty reduction that we are seeking to achieve,” he said.
Bagudu told participants that eradicating poverty is a core priority of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He noted the federal government’s commitment to collaborating with development partners and other stakeholders to significantly reduce the number of people living below the poverty line in Nigeria.
