FG urges civil servants to adopt efficiency culture
By Patience Ikpeme
The federal government has called on civil servants to adopt an efficiency culture in order to make better use of government resources.
The Permanent Secretary Special Duties, Mr. Okokon Ekanem Udo, made the appeal during a study tour to the Ministry in Abuja by a delegation from Nasarawa State led by Dr. Agot James.
Udo explained that all levels of government are facing a challenge with limited economic resources while the needs of citizens are increasing.
To address this issue, Udo said “the Efficiency Unit was established by the Federal Government to reduce wastage, block leakages and cut costs in all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs)”.
Udo emphasized that for an economy to be successful it must use all available tools efficiently so as to achieve its desired outcome.
He further explained that the establishment of the Efficiency Unit at the federal level was aimed at harnessing all available resources prudently for robust economic growth.
Dr. Agot James who led the delegation from Nasarawa State said they were in Abuja to learn about how efficiency unit operates at the federal level so they could implement similar strategies in their state.
