FG, Trans Sahara to Cultivate 3M Hectares Soybean, Build Sugar Plants

The Federal Government has announced a partnership with the Trans Sahara Consortium to enhance agricultural productivity through Soybean and Sugar Projects.
These initiatives aim to cultivate 3 million hectares of soybean and establish sugarcane processing plants, addressing trade deficits and improving food security.
Finance Minister Mr. Wale Edun revealed this during a meeting with Senator Ibrahim Turak, Chairman of the Consortium, on Monday in Abuja.
The Minister explained that the Trans Sahara Consortium’s initiative is a game-changer for Nigeria’s agricultural sector. “We are committed to supporting innovative projects that drive economic growth, promote food security, and empower Nigerian farmers” Edun stated.
Edun emphasized the government’s commitment to innovative projects that empower farmers and drive economic growth, marking a significant step towards a prosperous Nigeria.
He noted that this partnership aligns with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu ‘s strategic objectives for enhancing food security and strengthening the agricultural sector.
The minister emphasized that “This partnership is a significant step towards realizing our vision for a prosperous Nigeria. We will work closely with Trans Sahara Consortium Limited to ensure the successful implementation of these projects.
The Trans Sahara Consortium’s Soybean and Sugar Projects offer several specific benefits for Nigerian farmers, some of which includes increased yield, job creation, market access sustainability and lots more.
