FG Reassures Adequate Funding for Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Dual Carriageway Project

The Minister of Finance and Co-Ordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has assured contractors of sufficient funds for the prompt completion of the road project.
During the inspection alongside the Minister of Works, Wale Edun emphasized that the fund for project completion was actively being worked out and would soon be made available to the contractors, stressing the importance of expeditious completion.
Edun stated that the ongoing efforts aimed to enhance domestic resources mobilization for vital projects like this. He explained that the inspection, conducted under the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed to assess contractor commitment, encourage and support early project completion, and urge further efforts.
Highlighting infrastructure as a critical priority in President Tinubu’s administration, Edun emphasized the goal to reduce food prices, facilitate transportation of agricultural produce, ensure smooth movement of people across the country, and stabilize the economy. He assured the availability of funds for the timely completion of the road project.
Minister of Works, Senator (Engr.) David Umahi, disclosed President Tinubu’s directive to complete the project within 24 months. Umahi added that the ministers were working on payment modalities and ensuring milestone completion.
Umahi commended the Minister of Finance and Co-Ordinating Minister of the Economy for reassuring the release of funds and thanked him for critical decisions regarding project completion. He outlined specifications to enhance project stability, emphasizing relief for Nigerians with a focus on major carriageways.
Umahi expressed optimism about the 24-month completion period, highlighting the commitment of the Minister of Finance and Co-Ordinating Minister of the Economy in expeditiously releasing funds. He emphasized the government’s dedication to providing well-constructed roads for the benefit of the Nigerian people.
Mr. Benjamin Butt, Programme Manager of Julius Berger, the project contractor, disclosed the use of Recycling Technology in the rehabilitation process, outlining stages of the road project’s development.
