…Assures Nigerians of Fuel Supply Stability

The Federal Government has given assurances that the supply of refined petroleum products across the country will not be disrupted, following recent concerns in the between Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).
The assurance was given in a statement released on Sunday by the Federal Ministry of Finance after a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Domestic Crude Oil and Refined Products Sales in Local Currency Initiative.
The committee, chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, convened earlier on Sunday to review market developments.
Following the review, the committee disclosed that all outstanding issues are being tackled immediately.
“All outstanding issues, particularly the dispute between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and Dangote Refinery are being addressed with urgency and in good faith,” the committee stated.
The meeting focused on two recent issues that had unsettled the market: the purported suspension of the Naira-for-crude oil arrangement by the Dangote Refinery, and the concerns officially raised by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) regarding the refinery’s operations.
The government reported that the dispute concerning the Naira-for-crude oil arrangement—the mechanism intended to stabilize domestic currency sales—has since been amicably resolved.
The committee added that the Federal Government remains fully committed to ensuring energy security, protecting consumers, and maintaining stability in the domestic petroleum products market. To this end, the committee gave a firm commitment that the crude oil for the Naira initiative will continue.
