The Federal Government has developed a framework designed to ensure that all federal government concessions adhere to proper procedures, aiming to prevent future legal challenges.

This development was revealed by Bello Mohammed Goronyo, the Minister of State for Works, at the recently concluded Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Summit in Abuja, an event organized by the Infrastructure Concessions and Regulatory Commission (ICRC).

Goronyo explained the government’s approach: “The federal government through the ministry of works have been so meticulous in ensuring that we give Nigerians the best of the concessions agreement and that it will not at the end of the day cause any trouble for Nigerians especially litigations.”

He added that the government is actively engaging with various stakeholders to achieve this goal. “We are engaging the private sector, the ICRC, Ministry of Justice the Bureau of Public Enterprises to ensure that every single concession agreement Nigeria is entering into is devoid of any item that will later cause problems for the country and we are open for conversations, and also collaborate with all the people that are ready to come,” he said.

The Minister also stated that the National Policy on Public Private Partnership will play a significant role in stimulating and attracting necessary investments into Nigeria’s infrastructure sector.

Earlier in the summit, Dr. Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh, the Director General of the ICRC, noted that the gathering brought together key private sector players and government agencies. The aim was to establish a path for Nigeria’s infrastructure growth.
