The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) has announced significant strides in its efforts to empower Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country. Through a combination of digital and physical training initiatives, the DBN has successfully upskilled over 4,000 MSMEs.

Building on this achievement, the bank has unveiled the 2024 edition of its flagship DBN Entrepreneurship Training Programme (DBNETP). Now in its sixth cycle, the program aims to equip MSMEs with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in the dynamic business landscape.

Dr. Tony Okpanachi, Managing Director/CEO of the DBN, emphasized the pivotal role of capacity building in MSMEs’ growth. “Capacity building training bridges the knowledge and skills gap, empowering entrepreneurs to innovate, compete, and thrive in a rapidly evolving economy,” he stated.

The DBNETP is designed to provide targeted support to MSMEs with high growth potential. To qualify for the program, businesses must meet specific criteria, including business owner eligibility, business location, business type, and commitment to participate in the training.

Beyond basic eligibility, the DBN will also assess businesses based on their bankability, the feasibility and sustainability of their business models, and their scalability.

To cater to diverse learning preferences, the DBNETP offers a blended learning approach. Participants will engage in self-paced online modules covering essential business principles through the DBN learning management platform, accessible via the BizAid app. Additionally, selected businesses will undergo intensive, in-person training tailored to their specific needs.

The application process for the 2024 DBNETP is now open. Interested MSMEs can register on the BizAid app and complete mandatory online courses. Successful completion of these courses will grant applicants access to the application form for the face-to-face training program.

The DBN encourages all MSMEs to seize this opportunity to enhance their business capabilities and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth. By participating in the DBNETP, entrepreneurs can gain valuable insights, skills, and networks to propel their ventures forward.
