The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reached a major turning point in its operations after successfully fixing and improving its main processing units.

The Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) and the petrol production block are now working at their best, making the refinery more stable and ready for full-scale work.

Following the planned repairs on these sections, the refinery has started a special 72-hour test to check how well the machines are working. This test is being done together with the foreign company that designed the technology, UOP, to make sure everything meets the highest global standards.

The Chief Executive Officer of the refinery, David Bird, noted that the way the units are working together shows that the refinery was built with very advanced technology.

“Our teams have demonstrated exceptional precision and expertise in stabilising both the CDU and MS Block, and we are pleased to see them functioning at optimal efficiency. This performance testing phase enables us to validate the entire plant under real operating conditions,” Bird said.

He expressed confidence that the refinery is on the right path to producing high-quality fuel consistently. He also said that this achievement shows the strength and quality of the refinery’s engineering.

“We remain committed to producing high-quality refined products that will transform Nigeria’s energy landscape, eliminate import dependence, and position the nation as a net exporter of petroleum products,” he added.

According to the CEO, the main units are now working steadily at their full capacity of 650,000 barrels per day. He also confirmed that other parts of the refinery will begin their own tests starting next week.

During the last Christmas and New Year period, the refinery was sending out between 45 million and 50 million litres of petrol every day. Now that the main units are fully back and better, the refinery is in a position to supply up to 75 million litres of petrol daily to the Nigerian market whenever it is needed.

While thanking Nigerians and its customers for their support, Bird said the refinery is still fully dedicated to making sure Nigeria has enough fuel to run its industries, create more jobs, and grow the economy.
