Dangote Refinery, in collaboration with Neptune Oil, has announced the historic export of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to Cameroon, marking the refinery’s first-ever international shipment.
The groundbreaking achievement is seen as a strategic effort to bolster economic ties between Nigeria and Cameroon while addressing the region’s increasing energy demands.
Speaking on the development, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of the Dangote Group, described the export as a realization of his vision for an energy-independent Africa. “This first export of PMS to Cameroon is a tangible demonstration of our vision for a united and energy-independent Africa. With this development, we are laying the foundation for a future where African resources are refined and exchanged within the continent for the benefit of our people,” Dangote stated.
Antoine Ndzengue, Director and Owner of Neptune Oil, highlighted the significance of the partnership for Cameroon. “By becoming the first importer of petroleum products from this world-class refinery, we are bolstering our country’s energy security and supporting local economic development. This initial supply, executed without international intermediaries, reflects our commitment to serving our markets independently and efficiently,” he said.
Beyond the inaugural export, Dangote Refinery and Neptune Oil are exploring ways to establish a sustainable supply chain aimed at stabilizing fuel prices and generating economic opportunities across the region.
For Nigeria, this milestone demonstrates Dangote Refinery’s capacity to meet domestic fuel demands and expand its influence within Africa’s energy market. The export is a significant leap toward fostering intra-African trade and providing Cameroon with high-quality petroleum products refined within the continent.
This collaboration reinforces the commitment of both companies to ensuring regional energy security and economic growth through homegrown solutions.
