Dangote Commends Tinubu’s NNPC Leadership Team
…Addresses Refinery Challenges
By Patience Ikpeme
Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, has expressed his approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s selection of the leadership team at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC). Dangote specifically acknowledged the appointments of Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari as Group Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Ahmadu Musa Kida as Non-Executive Chairman.
Dangote stated that his visit to the President was to convey his appreciation for the assembly of a highly capable and professionally competent team, which he believes is well-equipped to guide NNPC to greater achievements.
According to Dangote, the newly appointed management team brings significant technical expertise and possesses the managerial experience necessary to revitalize Nigeria’s strategically important public enterprise.
“The new team, under the leadership of Bashir Bayo Ojulari and Ahmadu Musa Kida, reflects the President’s strategic intent to drive reform and innovation across the energy sector,” Dangote said. “We are confident that this team will address systemic challenges, align with the President’s vision of a $1 trillion economy, and reposition NNPC Limited for operational excellence and long-term sustainability.”
In response to questions from select media regarding his previous comments about ongoing challenges to the survival of his $20 billion refinery and his determination to confront what he termed “cabals” within the oil sector, Dangote clarified that his remarks were in no way connected to the new NNPC leadership. He noted that the current leadership at NNPC has been supportive of Dangote Refinery’s needs.
Dangote explained that the “cabals” he referenced are certain major oil marketers and traders who are attempting to obstruct President Tinubu’s efforts to revitalize the national economy.
He observed that the recent operational activities and structural reforms implemented by NNPC Limited indicate a renewed focus on transparency, efficiency, and accountability within the organization. “The calibre of individuals at the helm, and their deliberate, reform-driven agenda, demonstrate a commitment to fostering a culture of performance and professionalism,” he added.
Dangote expressed optimism that the new NNPC Limited leadership will drive the country’s energy industry towards significant growth and conveyed his group’s commitment to supporting the shared vision of a prosperous and energy-secure Nigeria.
