Dangote Cement Plc has confirmed that two of its trucks, which were intercepted in Adamawa State, have been released. The trucks, loaded with 900 bags of cement each from the Obajana Cement Plant, were on their way to Jamtari, Maiha Local Government, Adamawa State, based on a customer’s request.

The interception occurred on Friday, February 9, 2024, following an executive order banning the transportation of food and building materials across the country’s border through Adamawa routes by the Adamawa State Government. Security agents accused the trucks of trying to export banned products to the Republic of Cameroun.

However, the company clarified that they were not attempting to export cement to Cameroun as alleged, as they have a functional cement plant in the country. The trucks were simply delivering products requested by a customer within Adamawa State.

Despite the interception, the Government of Adamawa State, in a press briefing with the Adamawa State Police Headquarters, confirmed that the trucks were intended to deliver within the state. The trucks were escorted by police to ensure the safe delivery of the products to the customer.

The Group’s Chief Branding and Communication Officer, Mr. Anthony Chiejina, explained that the trucks were wrongly intercepted despite the drivers’ efforts to explain the situation to the security agents. The company has also provided evidence to the Department of State Security (DSS) in Adamawa State to confirm the trucks’ intended destination.

In conclusion, Dangote Cement Plc has emphasized that the trucks were not involved in any illegal activity and were simply carrying out their routine delivery operations within Adamawa State.
