Dangote Cement Plc has committed over $280 million towards CNG technology and infrastructure to support cleaner and more affordable energy solutions in Nigeria.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently launched an initiative to distribute 1 million free CNG conversion kits for commercial vehicles, furthering Nigeria’s shift toward sustainable energy.
Arvind Pathak, Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement, announced the company’s strategy to convert its fleet entirely to CNG by mid-2026.
The initial batch of 1,500 mono-fuel CNG trucks has already arrived, with an additional 1,600 expected by year’s end.
Pathak noted Dangote’s focus on creating reliable CNG fueling stations to support the fleet’s transition, with two key stations at Obajana and Ibese.
Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, stated that this investment aligns with Nigeria’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060, as outlined in its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement.
He praised President Tinubu’s leadership on energy independence and environmental sustainability, and confirmed Dangote Cement’s dedication to a “cleaner and greener future.”
