The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has lauded Dangote Cement Plc, Ibese Plant, for its outstanding commitment to tax compliance and consistent record as the highest tax-paying industrial organisation in the state.
A delegation from the agency, led by its Director of Field Operations, Mrs. Oluwaseun Olajube, made the commendation during a familiarisation tour of the 12 million metric tonnes per annum cement plant in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Mrs. Olajube praised the management of Dangote Cement Ibese Plant for setting a benchmark in corporate responsibility and financial transparency through timely fulfilment of its civic obligations. She also urged the company to maintain its record of compliance while strengthening its collaboration with OGIRS, particularly the Yewa North Zonal Office.
“Dangote Cement Ibese Plant continues to demonstrate excellence in tax compliance, and we are proud to acknowledge their contribution to the economic development of our state,” she said.
The OGIRS Director restated the agency’s commitment to fostering transparency, accountability, and stronger partnerships with the state’s industrial stakeholders, noting that collaboration was crucial for sustainable economic growth and revenue generation.
In his response, the Plant Director of Dangote Cement Ibese, Mr. Ayyagari Subbaraidu, expressed appreciation for the recognition by the revenue agency. He said the acknowledgement was not only about the financial numbers but also about leadership, integrity, and responsible corporate citizenship.
“The praise from OGIRS underscores the importance of private sector collaboration in driving sustainable revenue generation and supporting public infrastructure and services. We recognise that tax revenue is the backbone of state development, and we remain committed to compliance, accountability, and transparency in all our dealings with government agencies,” Subbaraidu stated.
The visit, according to both parties, marked a significant step in strengthening public-private sector synergy aimed at advancing economic growth and sustainable development in Ogun State.
The commendation also comes on the heels of disclosures by the President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), Aliko Dangote, that the group paid over N402 billion in taxes to the government in 2024, making it the country’s largest taxpayer.
The recognition adds to a series of awards recently conferred on Dangote Industries and its subsidiaries, including its naming as Nigeria’s most tax-compliant business organisation by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). The group was also honoured with the FMDQ GOLD award as the most active corporate organisation in the foreign exchange market.
In addition, Dangote Cement Plc emerged as the issuer of the Largest Commercial Paper Quotation and the Single Largest Corporate Debt Issue on FMDQ, further consolidating its reputation as a key player in Nigeria’s industrial and financial sectors.
The FMDQ GOLD Awards (Global Competitiveness, Operational Excellence, Liquidity and Diversity) celebrate institutions that have contributed significantly to the resilience and growth of Nigeria’s financial markets and the broader economy.
