Dangote Cement Celebrates Sustainability Week with Community Outreach

Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana Plant, has conducted a series of community service and public awareness programmes as part of its annual Sustainability Week initiative.
The company’s Sustainability Department Head, Dr. Eseosa Ighile, highlighted the engagement with local communities through donations and outreach activities.
One notable initiative involved a visit to the Ministry of Mercy orphanage in Lokoja, where employees provided essential supplies, food items, and spent quality time with the children and residents.
Dr. Ighile emphasized the positive impact of the initiative on both the company and the orphanage, strengthening relationships and boosting employee morale.
Engr. Azad Nawabuddin, Plant Director of Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana, described the 2024 Sustainability Week as impactful and aligned with the year’s theme, “SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities.” The week-long celebration featured employee and stakeholder engagement, as well as charity outreach programmes.
Dangote Cement’s Corporate Communications Department explained that the company used Sustainability Week to educate young people on climate change and health-related issues.
Dr. Igazeuma Okoroba, Head of Sustainability, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to sustainability and its commitment to supporting the residents of its host communities.
Through these initiatives, Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana Plant, has demonstrated its commitment to corporate social responsibility and its positive impact on the local community.
