The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed claims of forced mass retirements, emphasizing that its Early Exit Package (EEP) is entirely voluntary and without any negative repercussions for eligible staff.

In a statement released on Wednesday, and signed by the Acting Director Corporate Communications of the CBN Mrs Hakama Sidi Ali, she clarified that the decision to implement the EEP was made in consultation with the Bank’s Joint Consultative Council (JCC), a body representing staff interests. The EEP, previously limited to the executive cadre, has now been extended to eligible staff at all levels.

The CBN stated that the EEP is designed to support career development and provide an opportunity for eligible staff to explore new opportunities outside the bank. Staff who choose not to participate in the programme will continue their careers at the CBN without any negative consequences.

The central bank assured its staff that their professional growth and well-being remain top priorities and urged employees to disregard any misinformation or rumors circulating about the EEP.
