The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, has reiterated the Federal Government’s resolve to achieve the developmental goals outlined by President Bola Tinubu.
He made this statement on Wednesday in Abuja during the presentation of the performance assessment for the first to third quarters of the eight presidential priorities and ministerial deliverables.
Bagudu emphasized that these priorities form the cornerstone of the administration’s agenda to address immediate national needs while laying the foundation for long-term sustainable growth.
The minister explained that each priority was carefully designed to address citizens’ aspirations and tackle contemporary challenges. The areas of focus include economic growth, job creation, infrastructure development, the rule of law, inclusivity, and fiscal responsibility.
Other priorities target improved access to education and healthcare, as well as tackling insecurity, which remains a significant national concern.
“These priorities represent critical responsibilities shared by all ministers, policymakers, and public servants. Achieving these goals demands collaboration, commitment, and accountability,” Bagudu said.
The quarterly performance assessment was aimed at evaluating progress, identifying challenges, and devising strategies for improvement in key areas.
“Our interaction today will focus on examining our Q1-Q3 performance to identify areas for improvement and ensure the achievement of our set targets,” Bagudu stated.
He called for collective efforts to bridge gaps and enhance effective coordination for efficient service delivery.
“At the end of this exercise, I am confident that we will leave with a renewed sense of purpose and optimism, as well as a clear understanding of the basis of the assessment,” he added.
Ms. Hadiza Usman, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Policy Coordination, commended the ministry for its impressive performance. She noted that the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning holds a central role in reforming the economy for sustainable growth, one of the administration’s top priorities.
“The ministry’s performance has been very high and encouraging,” Usman said.
She also highlighted the collaboration between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning as instrumental in achieving these reforms.
As the review exercise concludes, the focus remains on enhancing service delivery and addressing identified gaps. With the eight presidential priorities serving as a roadmap, the Federal Government aims to foster economic stability, improve citizens’ quality of life, and set Nigeria on a path of sustainable development.
